I originally contacted K9 Learning Academy to work with our one year old rescue dog who was mistreated by a former owner, extremely anxious, suffered from horrible separation anxiety, and a was a nonstop barker to boot. After our first couple of sessions with Matt and Morgan he was magically transformed into a totally different dog. It was nothing short of miraculous. He learned basic commands and they taught us ways to quell his barking and manage his anxiety without medication. However, during these sessions it became increasingly obvious that our over-indulged 3 year old dog needed training too. A LOT of training. We had allowed him to basically do what he wanted whenever he wanted - bark, eat, jump, resource guard, all the bad habits. At that point Matt and Morgan turned their attention to him and all I can say is WOW! After several sessions with them he has actually become a remarkably polite dog with excellent manners. The barking, the jumping, the separation anxiety, the leash pulling, all of it has improved dramatically. At each session Matt and Morgan would listen attentively to all of our dog woes, observe the dogs in action, and offer their knowledge and expertise. They were very flexible with days and times and worked around our schedules. They are truly masters of dog training (or training the humans they belong to). Having well-behaved and well-adjusted dogs has been life changing. I can’t recommend them enough.

I highly recommend K9 Learning Academy when looking for a dog trainer. Matt has been incredibly flexible, supportive, and knowledgeable in helping us with our dog and her training needs. Leia was struggling with some anxiety and trust issues, especially pertaining to the vet. Matt went beyond my expectations and personally met us at the vet on multiple occasions, working with us and our pup to retrain our thinking, how we respond to her anxieties and needs, and to make her vet visits a positive experience. In only a few short and positive visits, Leia made tremendous strides in how she acted at the vet. We received Mila our king shepherd at 8 weeks old. We knew from her birth that we were going to need a professional trainer due to the size she was going to be. After researching many facilities and long hours on the internet I found Matthew Dellaira from K9 Learning Academy. From the first visit to our home to meet Mila we saw an improvement. He explained in detail what I was doing both right and wrong. Mila thought I was her personal chew and pouncing toy. He not only trained Mila but he also trained me. After weeks of training I decided to have him train her as my service dog. Matt is absolutely amazing at all his training techniques. Mila is not the same timid and shy puppy she came to us as. He also helped us with our 11 year old Shiba mix Sushi who is a grumpy old man. Matt was a magical dog trainer. My 10 month old lab dog Athena was a stubborn dog. She have been 2 puppy schools when she was younger. She did well in schools but mis-behave at home as she grew older and bigger (85 pounds). She ran off to the streets a couple of times and she went further each time. After a long chase in my neighborhood I decided to get some help. Fortunately, I found Matt. Matt came to our house and layed out the clear training plan. I was so surprised that with just a session of boundary training, Athena never crossed the line anymore; Not a single time ! It is magically feeling, seeing Athena free roaming in my backyard without having to worry she run away. Several times, I accidentally throw the ball outside the boundary, she stayed inside not going after it. The additional benefits was we no longer have to close the bedroom doors now. She will wait outside my room until I give her permission to enter. If you are looking for a dog trainer, I 100% recommend Matt. You will enjoy a lot more to have your dogs as integrated part of the family. Stuart was Great. Our newly rescued dog Rallo, was like 2 different dogs. Inside he was the most loving and well behaved dog. We took him outside and he wants to chase and bark at, runners, cyclist loud cars and other dogs. He is 75lbs and has a pretty vicious sounding bark, and now the terror of the Neighborhood. We knew he just was really playful, but it didn't sound like that at all. We love this dog so much, but we were now on the fence of finding a new home for him again. We called K9 Learning Academy. We found K9 Learning Academy when we were searching for a trainer for our two American Staffordshire Terriers. During our consultation we shared with Matt what our main concerns were with our dogs behavior: basic obedience, coming when called, pulling on the leash, and leash aggression towards other dogs. Prior to meeting with Matt, walking my dog was not enjoyable at all. We’ve had several training sessions with Matt and the change in my dogs behavior is wonderful. Let me first start by saying we have never hired a dog trainer before. After our experience with Matt? I wish I had done it with every dog I’ve ever owned. This was our first time not only using a trainer but adopting a dog we’ve never met. When we first got Macy she was an absolute handful. But in just a few short lessons, Matt had her doing things we didn’t think could be possible. Our biggest fear was Thanksgiving day. With many guests coming over and knowing how she liked to jump on people. We were especially fearful of the three-year-olds that would be in our home that evening. Well much to our surprise and delight Miss Macy put our fears to rest with pleasant and loving behavior. We couldn’t have been more surprised and happier. This pup was rescued by a foster family and lived for the most part outdoors on a farm with many other dogs. Thus imbedding in her a pretty wild demeaner. However when Matt came to our home he turned Miss Macy into a very obedient lovable addition to our family. It’s nothing to take her for walks without a leash she is so well behaved. And the compliments we get with regard to her manners feel great. Her tendency to be a bit wild had us quite concerned and apprehensive about this adoption. So much so, that it was breaking our hearts that we may have to have considered giving her back up. As we weren’t sure we’d ever be able to handle her. But it was Matt to the rescue! We had used Matt previously to work with our very "energized" collie Abby. He worked patiently with us until she became the civilized dog that she now is. Recently we absorbed another family into our home and they came with 3 dogs. One of the new dogs (Bailey) had a dislike for Abby, he was aggressive towards her and we needed to do something in order to make this work. So it was Matt to the rescue again! If you’re looking for a great place to have your dogs trained, this is the place. They came to my house to do the training. Which was more comfortable for myself and my two dogs. I really loved that because they see how your dogs or dogs are acting at home before there taken out to venture out for walks around the public. That was another big fear of mine. The trainers are the best and very understand. I have 2 German Shepherds and they were out of control because I didn't have time to train them because I had health issues. I called them and they came out to evaluate them both. They informed me that they could be trained. Which I had my doubts. Today, after a few sessions they both are doing real well and they both now listen in two languages. I'm very grateful and happy I made that call. You won't be sorry.
