Do you use force, fear, or punishment in training?
No. Our methods are humane, ethical, and science-based. We prioritize non-verbal communication, structure, and positive reinforcement. Training should reduce stress—not create it. We do not rely on intimidation or harsh corrections to achieve results.
What types of dogs do you work with?
We work with dogs of all breeds, ages, and backgrounds, including:
-
Puppies and adolescent dogs
-
Adult dogs with behavior challenges
-
Anxious or fearful dogs
-
Reactive dogs (to people or other dogs)
-
High-energy or impulsive dogs
Every dog is assessed individually to determine the safest and most effective training approach.
What services do you offer?
We offer several structured training options, including:

-
Canine Behavior Immersion Programs (Board & Train)
-
Private Behavior Coaching
-
Behavior Modification Programs
-
In-Home Training Support
-
Owner Education & Transfer Training
Training recommendations are made after an evaluation to ensure the right fit.
Why do you require an evaluation before training begins?
Behavior cannot be accurately assessed without observation. An in-person evaluation allows us to:

-
Observe body language and stress signals
-
Understand your dog’s behavior history
-
Identify root causes, not just symptoms
-
Recommend the most effective training path
This ensures training is ethical, appropriate, and successful.
Do you guarantee results?
No ethical trainer can guarantee behavior outcomes. Behavior change depends on many factors, including consistency, environment, and owner follow-through. What we do guarantee is a thoughtful, professional process built on proven learning principles and clear communication.
Will my dog still listen at home after training?
Yes—because we focus heavily on owner education and transfer. Training does not end with the dog. We teach owners how to maintain structure, communication, and expectations so results continue at home.
Do you offer in-home training?
Yes. In-home training is offered as a support option, not a requirement. These sessions are used for real-world application, transition support, and home-specific challenges when appropriate.
How long does training take?
Training timelines vary based on:

-
The dog’s emotional state
-
Behavior severity
-
Learning history
-
Consistency at home
Some dogs progress quickly, while others need more time and support. Training is a process—not a quick fix.
Can owners watch or be involved in training?
Absolutely. Transparency and owner involvement are core values at K9 Learning Academy. Owners are encouraged to observe, ask questions, and actively participate in the training process.
Do you work with veterinarians or other professionals?
Yes. We regularly collaborate with veterinarians and other animal professionals to ensure training plans support the dog’s overall health, stress levels, and well-being.
Where are you located and what areas do you serve?
K9 Learning Academy is based in Conway, South Carolina, serving Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. Additional we serve parts of New Jersey.
What is the first step to get started?
The first step is to schedule an in-person evaluation. This allows us to meet you and your dog, answer questions, and guide you toward the most appropriate training option.
What is your overall goal as a training company?
Our goal is not just obedience.
Our goal is:

-
Calm, emotionally balanced dogs
-
Clear communication
-
Reduced stress
-
Confident owners
-
Long-term success
Training should improve quality of life for both dogs and the people who love them.
